High performance engine builders have been examining cylinder blocks for "core shift" for many years. The introduction of the new thin wall castings by Detroit
makes "core shift" an important aspect of engine rebuilding for the entire industry. It will be apparent to the user of the Ultrasonic Thickness Gauge that past
methods of finding core shift was usually misleading, whereas the Ultrasonic Thickness Gauge is highly accurate.
The Sonic 133D Gauge is a solid state, digital instrument that is capable of thickness measurements with accuracy that qualifies it for use in the aerospace
industry. When properly calibrated to the cylinder block being checked, wall thickness readings of + .005" or better can be expected. While the instrument is
capable of measuring .020" to 25.00" within .001"; due to the extremely rough surface on the backside of the cylinder wall and the fact that the instrument will
read the thinnest point, this tolerance must be expected on engine blocks.
This user-friendly gauge is small, yet rugged, weighing only 13 oz with the batteries installed. The Sonic 133D Gauge does not need an AC power supply or a battery charger! Using 4 each AA alkaline
batteries it has 100 hours of run time with the display back light on 1/ 3 of the time. The back light is user selected on, off, or auto. Other highlights of the Sonic 133D Gauge include:
·A Hi/ Med/ Lo gain setting ·Automatic shutoff after 10 minutes.
·Low Battery Indicator ·A differential mode which allows the operator to enter a target thickness and the gauge will read +/-the
difference from the target · High/ Low Alarm that allows the operator to preset high and low limits. The gauge will alarm if the
reading is outside of the limits.
Each Sonic 133D Gauge is packed in a fitted, shock resistant case. Because proper calibration is the key to successful measurements, the kit is supplied with the appropriate standards for the selected probe. One probe
is supplied with the gauge. Additional probes may be purchased separately. An operation manual and certificate of calibration are also included. (This gauge can easily be upgraded with the Sonic 133DL Module.)
The Sonic 133DL Module is a user upgrade feature equipped for memory storage and computer printout capabilities. The DL memory holds 8000 readings and has 999 user selected data files. The software is
Windows based and is compatible with most any printer connected to your computer, even over a network.
Part No.: 133-WP The Cylinder Wall Probe has a curved surface that will successfully measure any cylinder bore from 3 1/ 2" to 5" diameter.
Part No.: 133-HP The Cylinder Head Probe is a miniature probe small enough to fit through a 3/ 4" opening and has an 8" long handle. This probe can be used to measure port wall thickness on practically
any type of cylinder head.
Part No.: 133-CP The special Chassis Probe has a small diameter flat surface that will accurately measure small diameter tubing.
Part No.: GaugeMaster
This software application is designed to operate the 133DL Module under Windows 3.11, and Windows 95/ 98 operating systems.
It enables the user to:
·
• read thickness data from a disk or instrument
• display thickness data on the PC screen
• set threshold limits on thickness data in the PC
• set s on threshold limits
• print thickness data to a standard printer · retrieve, save, and print Ascans
